Where the city fuels art and art fuels the city, Smartspaces.org is unlocking two of New York City’s most valuable resources: space and talent. We’re dedicated to both aesthetic prosperity and a fair shake for the creative minds of New York.

In the blink of an eye, empty commercial space becomes the next public gallery — and a place tenants want to be. Artists gain a window to showcase their diverse talents with the eyes of the world’s most influential city upon them. Art grabs the attention of passersby, sparks conversation, and advertises a landlord with vision and smarts.

In this fluid model, we’re always standing by with professionally curated art for the next empty space. When new tenants move in, we take the show on the road to more locations.

Through generous contributions from individual and corporate donors, participating in Smartspaces.org is free — for artists and owners. Fiscal sponsorship from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) supports our non-profit operation, and we welcome tax-deductible donations of all sizes.
