First SmartSpaces Project launches May 25-30

And we’re off! SmartSpaces is debuting its first window May 25-30 at 266 W. 37th Street. In collaboration with SmartSpaces, curators Kimberly Marrero and Louky Keijsers have selected artist Tamara Gayer to create a site-specific installation, Color Coordinated.

Check out our sneak preview video featuring artist Tamara Gayer and curators Louky Keijsers & Kimberly Marrero.

For this debut project, the curators were invited to select artwork for a vacant storefront located in the heart of Manhattan’s Garment District. The location evokes traces of New York’s manufacturing past; using this space as an impromptu gallery highlights the juxtapositions of old and new which infuse the contemporary thrust of the city. Color Coordinated, on view around the clock, provides a breathing space and a conversation piece for the continuous stream of passersby; a rare opportunity to enjoy contemporary art in an everyday setting. Come out to celebrate our launch on Wednesday, May 28th from 6-9 p.m. at Stitch Bar & Lounge, right across the street! Download the PDF invitation
